Small Brewery of the Year (10,001 - 150,000 barrels): Privat-brauerei Aying, Ayinger, Bavaria, Germany. Ayinger is the only brewery to repeat as a champion from 1994. Established in 1877, Ayinger is still owned and operated by the same family. Their additional festival beer, Ayinger Volksfest, is released every June to eager patrons in Aying and the surrounding villages. Only about 3 percent of the Ayinger products reach the U.S., but their Weisse beers, Oktoberfest-Marzen, and Jahrhundert Bier are definitely worth seeking out. |
